About Dragonfly Paddling's ORCKA Canoe and Kayak Certification
About Us
Dragonfly Paddling is located in Paris, Ontario, about one hour west of Toronto. Dragonfly Paddling offers Flatwater/Basic and Lakewater/Canadian Style canoeing courses. ORCKA certification is granted to those successfully meeting course requirements. All courses take place at Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area, which is about half-way between Cambridge and Brantford, Ontario.
Course sizes at Dragonfly Paddling are small, with an instructor participant ratio of no more than 1:5 in solo courses and no more than 1:10 in tandem courses. This ensures that each participant gets lots of individualized attention.
The course instructor is Pippa Creery, who is the owner and operator of Dragonfly Paddling. Pippa's goal is to help others to safely enjoy canoeing and the outdoors by guiding them in developing their skills and knowledge. Pippa is a certified and experienced ORCKA Flatwater Canoeing Instructor and an ORCKA Level 2 Lakewater Canoeing Instructor. She has experience and formal training in adult, youth and child education, and holds an Ontario Teaching Certificate. She has certification in Advanced Wilderness First Aid. Pippa is committed to doing her part to preserve our environment, and is currently building her own wind turbine. Pippa has traveled widely across North America, the Middle East , Europe and North Africa.
Dragonfly Paddling is also concerned that we care for all the citizens of our planet, and each year donates 6% of revenue to Doctors Without Borders. This money assists them in their work with people needing emergency medical care in many different countries.
